If you’re looking for golf lessons in Middletown, Virginia, you’re probably searching for one thing…to enjoy the game more.
Most golfers don’t struggle because they aren’t athletic enough or don’t practice enough. They struggle because golf instruction has become too complicated.
That’s exactly why I started the David DeMay Golf Academy.
My goal is simple: help golfers of all skill levels improve faster and actually enjoy playing the game.
Who I Am
My name is David DeMay, and I’ve spent more than 30 years in the golf industry as an instructor and golf professional. During that time, I’ve worked with golfers at every level. This includes beginners picking up a club for the first time, everyday players trying to break scoring barriers, and experienced golfers looking to regain confidence.
I opened the Academy in the fall of 2024 after moving to the Shenandoah Valley with my wife to be closer to family. After decades in the industry, I wanted to focus fully on what I enjoy most: teaching and helping people enjoy the game.
I’ve seen firsthand what golfers go through because I’ve experienced it myself. Frustration. Confusion. Trying too many swing thoughts at once. That perspective shapes how I teach today.
Why Most Golf Instruction Doesn’t Work
Many golfers come to me after taking lessons elsewhere feeling overwhelmed.
They’ve been given too many technical positions, too many swing thoughts, and often told to swing like someone else.
Golf shouldn’t feel robotic.
When instruction becomes overly technical, players lose athletic motion and confidence. Instead of improving, they start thinking more and playing worse.
That’s where my approach is different.
The Enjoyable Golf Method
I teach my Enjoyable Golf Method.
It’s a simplified, fundamentals-based system focused on body motion and understanding how the golf swing actually works.
Every lesson follows a clear, step-by-step process designed to make improvement understandable and repeatable.
My goal isn’t to rebuild your swing into someone else’s.
My goal is to help you swing better as YOU.
Students often say that I tell them things they’ve never been told before. The reason is simple: we focus on what truly matters and remove what doesn’t.
Results You Can See Right Away
One thing students notice quickly is that improvement happens during the lesson…not weeks later.
Better contact. Cleaner ball striking. More confidence.
When golfers understand the fundamentals and move correctly, results show up immediately. That early success builds momentum and makes practice more productive.
A Different Kind of Golf Academy
The David DeMay Golf Academy isn’t just a place to take a lesson and leave.
My vision is to build a community of golfers in Middletown and throughout the Shenandoah Valley who want to improve while enjoying the game more. In addition to private instruction, future plans include group learning opportunities and player development activities.
Every golfer follows a proven process designed to create lasting improvement, not temporary fixes.
In-Person and Virtual Golf Instruction
Golf improvement should fit your schedule.
Golfers in Middletown, Winchester, Stephens City, Front Royal, and surrounding areas can work with me directly at the Academy for in-person instruction and guided improvement.
Online instruction makes professional coaching accessible anywhere.
